1500+ players in action at MPL 11th National Schools 2023
The National Schools Chess Championship is the biggest chess tournament in India in terms of numbers. Players take part in six different age group in Open and Girls category, thus the number become quite big. The 11th edition sponsored by MPL Sports Foundation is witnessing the participation of 1537 players from various states across the country. The Under-13 Open itself has 257 players taking part, followed by 244 in Under-13 Open and 184 in Under-15 Open. Currently, eight players are in the sole lead in their respective age group and only two players are at perfect 7/7. They are - Vyom Malhota (HAR) and Saharsha Challa (TEL) in Under-9 and Under-13 Open respectively. Among the Girls, Prasiddhi Bhat (KAR) has a 1.5 point lead over the field in Under-17 Girls.
